The “Heiva Tu’aro Mā’ohi” is for the FATM the main objective, the culmination, the crowning achievement of the various events programmed during the year. For athletes, participating in the Heiva i Tahiti remains the end of months, even years of training and preparation.
This year’s “Heiva Tu’aro Mā’ohi du Triangle Polynésien”, as usual during the Heiva i Tahiti period. The dates chosen are between July 3 or 4 in “waiting period” for the “Heiva Va’a Taie Tautoru e Motu” and July 10, 11 and 14 for the other events of Tua’ro Ma’ohi.
HEIVA TU’ARO MA’OHI OF THE POLYNESIAN TRIANGLE
The Heiva Tu’aro Mā’ohi 2021 will once again take on an international dimension with the participation of Pacific countries. The 2015 edition of the festival welcomed an important participation of athletes from the Pacific. Many discovered our Heiva i Tahiti, and the traditional sports of Fenua. The last encounters in Rapa Nui, New Zealand and Vaihi show a certain growing interest and good performances. Many of these neighboring countries practice sports similar to our Tu’aro Mā’ohi with different rules. This is why the Pacific Ancestral Sports Committee was created in order to standardize the rules of competition and to promote the Tu’aro Mā’ohi internationally with the aim of coordinating our actions with the member countries.
