Welcome to Pension Taitaa
Our pension Taitaa, built in a large garden is located in Mataura, at 800 meters from the main village and it amenities, of the lagoon, mountain side. Hence the name of TAITAA which is found to be the name of the highest peak of the island with culminates at 422 meters.
The master of the place, Nariiorono, will welcome you on his native island with is very important to him. Dancer, sculptor on wood, he will make you discover his passions.
After renovation of the place of life and the 5 rooms (with private bathroom, fan, mosquito net, terrace overlooking the garden), your stay will be of real comfort. You will also find specialities of the house : Nathalie who has a diploma in bakery will propose you to taster her brioche and her pastries. At breakfast you can taste freshly picked fruit, of jams, juice and homemade yogurt. So our local cuisine influenced by European cuisine will awaken your taste buds.
You can enjoy a large garden dotted with fruit trees, relax in front of the TV or play board games.
We also lend you bikes with which you can go around the island (26 kms) and for young children, a cart trailer or baby carrier. We offer hiking trails including the must of Mount Taitaa. A day at the motu where Narii will prepare you good local dishes. Our flagship activity: a visit of “marae” and craftsmen that allows you to meet directly with the locals.
